The Fondation Marcello, based in Fribourg (Switzerland), was established in 1963 in order to preserve the estate and promote the Œuvre of Adèle d’Affry, Duchess of Castiglione Colonna (1836-1879), sculptor and painter under the pseudonym ‘Marcello’. [read more]
In August 2020, the daily La Liberté published a series of videos about the pearls of the cantonal archives of Fribourg. One of them is called MARCELLO, AN ARTIST UNDER COVER. This video is in French.
«Marcello», un nom évocateur pour les Fribourgeois, qui ont foulé la rue ou goûté la fondue du restaurant éponyme. Ce qu’ils ne savent probablement pas, c’est qu’il s’agit en réalité d’une femme qui s’est cachée derrière un nom masculin, une artiste qui a côtoyé les plus grands. Sa mémoire est réparée grâce à notre série et à l’archiviste Fabien Python.
